DirecTV Improves Relationships Between Parents and Kids
DirecTV has been great for my relationship with my kids. They love watching TV and, of course, I love it when they don’t. I want them to learn something, spend their time doing something more worthwhile than just staring at the tube. But with DirecTV, we have found a compromise! They can watch TV and learn at the same time.
And I’m not talking about dry documentaries about Lincoln’s assassination on The History Channel. Though that may fascinate their father, it doesn’t do much for my 5 year old and 8 year old. They prefer the exciting adventure and animal programs on Discovery Kids or learning how to create great do it yourself projects on the DIY channel. Animal Planet is a favorite of my daughter’s, the future family vet. That girl can eat spaghetti and meatballs while watching a dog undergo surgery. I’m not sure which side of the family she gets that iron stomach.
Not only does DirecTV get the kids learning, it gets them moving as well. If it’s raining outside or they are adamant about watching TV, then I’ll turn on the Fitness channel and we’ll all work out together to whatever exercise show is on. Though we rarely ever get the moves exactly right, we have a ton of fun trying and still get quite a workout dancing around the living room and bumping into each other.
Whether it’s ABC Family or watching some golden oldies on Nick at Nite, there’s always something on DirecTV that we can enjoy as a family. There’s definitely no rotting going on in front of our TV!
