The Direct TV High Definition Experiance

Last week I paid a visit to my good friend Bob. Needless to say, all the man talked about was his newly installed High Definition satellite television system provided by DirecTV. Launched in 1994, DirecTV is the largest satellite TV service provider in the U.S. Its introduction made possible the delivery of an all digital-quality multi-channel TV programming to an 18-inch satellite dish , which provides a much better alternative to cable.

All right, so I’m aware of why High Definition Programming is better than what most people have at home. It boasts of picture clarity, providing a picture almost 10 times clearer than analog broadcasts. It can also be seen at wide-screen format of 16:9 as compared to the 4:3 for standard television which translates to seeing your favorite movies the way it was meant to be shown. Moreover, it offers a digital audio quality similar to a DVD player. Bob swears that you cannot imagine the home theater experience you’ll have when you hook up that Dolby Digital surround sound unless you actually experience it.

Now that my own curiosity is at work, I asked him what was needed to be able to enjoy DIRECTV HD programming. He says he bought an HD-ready television set, a wide selection of which is offered by many of DirecTV’s authorized local retailers. He also had to buy a DIRECTV HD System composed of the DirecTV Receiver and an 18″ x 20″ DIRECTV Triple-LNB Multi-satellite dish. The new DirecTV HD DVR is an alternative to the DIRECTV HD Receiver. The off air antenna is optional. This allows you to access major broadcast networks’ HD prime-time programming available on your specific location. For your information, all DIRECTV HD Receivers receive and interpret your off-air digital local channels into the advanced program guide, when connected to an off-air antenna.

Part of DirecTV’s ad goes something like this: “If you want nothing less than the clearest picture, the most amazing sound and the most sought after HD programming, your ticket to the ultimate thrill ride starts here at DirecTV”.
